IPv4 addresses are becoming more scarce and more expensive over time to the point to which they may be exhausted over the coming years. This will certainly present commercial/ technical challenges to service providers that are in a new build, growth or subscriber acquisition phase. In parallel, the percentage of IPv6 internet traffic is currently in the region of 30 percent and rising. We will be discussing this transition to IPv6 and the associated challenges it brings from a network architecture, customer experience and operational perspective. Community Fibre have recently deployed A10’s CGNAT, Converged Firewall and Harmony Controller solution and they are joined by Horsebridge Networks to share their experience and learnings from the project.
